- No unauthorised access to work zones
- Noise and dust minimised; comply with council working hours
- Maintain clear access to neighbouring properties
Existing Services
Risk: Damage to existing electrical, plumbing, stormwater or fire services.
Controls:
- Services located and isolated where required prior to works
- Only licensed trades to modify services
- Protect existing services during construction
Electrical Hazards
Risk: Live electrical systems during alterations.
Controls:
- Electrical isolations coordinated prior to works
- Licensed electricians only
- Temporary leads tested and tagged
Demolition & Structural Works
Risk: Falling objects, structural instability.
Controls:
- Works carried out in accordance with engineer’s design
- Exclusion zones established during demolition
- PPE mandatory in demolition areas
- No works to proceed past mandatory inspection stages
Slips, Trips & Falls
Risk: Uneven surfaces, level changes, temporary openings.
Controls:
- Good housekeeping maintained daily
- Temporary edge protection and covers installed
- Adequate lighting provided
Manual Handling
Risk: Lifting and moving heavy materials.
Controls:
- Use mechanical aids where practicable
- Team lifts for heavy items
- Follow correct lifting techniques
Deliveries & Waste Removal
Risk: Vehicle movement and material handling.
Controls:
- Deliveries coordinated to minimise disruption
- Clear access maintained at all times
- Waste removed regularly; skips kept tidy
MINIMUM PPE
- Safety boots
- High visibility clothing
- Safety glasses
- Hearing protection (task dependent)
- Gloves and respiratory protection as required
SITE RULES
- Site induction required for all workers and visitors
- Keep site clean and tidy at all times
- Materials to be stored safely – do not block access paths
- No smoking, drugs or alcohol permitted onsite
- Follow all relevant SWMS for your tasks
- Report all hazards, incidents and near misses immediately
